I am new in this form, I used to have nokia9210 which is last with me 3 years and as you know it's used different system (Symbian), but as new technology moves fast I replace my good old nokia9210 with new I-mate, and to be fear and square I fined I-mate good with all the features it have but I am shocked with simple problem which is can't find it in nokia like:

1-Caller ID photo problem
2-Sending fax
3-sound controlling ( like profile function in nokia menu or any simple telephon)
4-SMS options ( like scheduled sending )
5-Writing a message weal driving ( big keyboard like fingerclex caller program)
6-In the calendar you can't see all your appointments in year planer
7-You can't choose your first working day ( only Sunday or Monday!!! )
8-Ring for each name

and that make me understand those problem will not be resolve, because it's come from the mother of Microsoft

Well, I know how it is to “upgrade” from Nokia to Pocket PC Phone, here we have to accept one factor, that this is a PDA and a phone in a balanced harmony. If you want to have a device to be more like a phone, a phone first then a PDA, or a phone with some PDA functions, you go for Windows Smartphone, or a Symbian based device. The i-mate is also close to give you what you really need in a converged device, those issues you mentioned I would like to reply to them respectively:

1. As per IA Style the fix for Caller ID photo problem will be available soon. Don’t worry about that.
2. Sending fax is still not possible, this is an OS issue you are correct, but O2 will have a new version of KSE Truefax specially designed for XDA II and i-mate. I have some resources confirming that, and KSE will develop a version for it. Again this is just a matter of time to be resolved.
3. There is a workaround for this, go to phone settings, or volume control.
4. Yes SMS is a bit limited.
5. can you explain further?
6 This is another minor issue, I suggest if you want a fully featured PIM application you checkout Pocket Informant (http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&jid=B73D8FXE4EEF7CC8393A82AE52DAXX71&platformId=2&productType=2&productId=10226), it is really cool! It is my daily application and I cannot live without it http://pocketpcdubai.com/Forums/smileys/wink.gif
7 Yes it should be more flexible, but this is minor anyway.
8 I anticipate a third party application to give you a ring tone for each caller number or even for a group. This is actually is missing in this device, I consider it a minor issue, however it should be there, and it won’t be too difficult for someone to develop it.

The best thing I like in the Microsoft Windows Mobile based devices, that you can upgrade the internal software by flashing it with a new version of ROM (these updates always free by the OEM) you can get it from the supplier immediately, and you can do it yourself, giving you the access to this feature is mandatory for any user, for example if you approach the dealer or distributor of Nokia phone to upgrade the OS you might end up paying them additional fee when that becomes available after the warranty expires. Another thing is that, when will they make it available. Further to that you get to handle upgrading a lot to software updates for each application or third party application installed in your device. Simply more flexibility and control, that’s what makes owning a Pocket PC more fun!

Esam,

I used to own a Nokia 9210i and it's really cool except for size, otherwise that horse really rocks. However, nokia doesn't seem to come with a newer business related type of phone soon. I just checked the Sony Erecsson P 900 which is availabe in the market now, it's cool but still i-mate gets a PLUS because of Microsoft Windows Mobile which means more software availabe in the marketplace IMHO.

cheers.

As you mentioned that horse have an new berth with stallion (nokia7700) and get all the features my by the Arabic is the only draw back for nokia, the problem with i-mate is the OS from microsoft as it feels you have one of the best OS in the world but in the same time you are in a sheaky ground and you can see it in the big windows how they change the OS every year like new shoes
